A Message from Our Founder

Why "We The Scenario" Matters

Welcome to the inaugural edition of "We The Scenario," a monthly newsletter that's much more than just a collection of stories and tips. It's the embodiment of our enduring commitment to empowering and uplifting our youth.

When I founded We Lead Ours, my vision was clear: to create a nurturing space where children and young people could unlock their full potential, unburdened by the challenges they face in their daily lives. Through our diverse programs spanning health and wellness, career development, and substance abuse prevention, we've touched the lives of many. But there's still so much more to do.

This newsletter is born out of a desire to extend our reach, to touch more lives, and to build a community that's united in making a tangible, positive impact. Each edition will shine a spotlight on our activities, share the inspiring stories of those we've helped, and provide practical advice that can be implemented in your daily life.

But "We The Scenario" is more than just a source of inspiration and information. It's a call to action. As our community grows, so does our ability to drive meaningful change. With every new subscriber, follower, and donor, we move one step closer to transforming the lives of countless children and youth who deserve every opportunity to thrive.

So, I invite you to join us in this journey. Engage with our stories, participate in our events, and if you can, contribute to our cause. Together, we can scale new heights and create a brighter future for our young ones, one story at a time.

Looking forward to this adventure with you

-Dwayne Aikens Jr. Executive Director

"Breaking Waves of History: Executive Director Teams Up with Global Visionaries for Revolutionary Afroaquatics Project!

In an unprecedented collaboration, our visionary executive director joined forces with international influencers Amanda E Herbert of Durham University, Kevin Dawson from the University of CA, Merced, Frank Clayton of Oakland Strokes Rowing Club, the esteemed Olympian David Banks, and the talented Ebony Iman Dallas Artist. Together, they crafted 'Open Water: Afroaquatics & History,' an interactive puzzle board unveiling the profound history of Black individuals navigating the waters.

On January 6, 2023, this powerhouse team engaged in a thought-provoking roundtable session, sharing insights with the brilliant Professor Amber N. Wiley from the University of Pennsylvania. The groundbreaking workshop serves as a nexus for scholars, community organizers, and artists, uniting to empower coaches and youth leaders. Their mission: to enlighten young minds and parents about the rich history of Black swimming, boating, and diving.

Through mesmerizing, puzzle-based artworks, the project narrates empowering stories rooted in meticulous historical research, shedding light on the often-overlooked narratives of Black aquatics. Brace yourselves for a tidal wave of education and empowerment as 'Open Water' emerges to make a splash in history!"
