🎾 We Lead Ours Spring Tennis Clinic: A Grand Slam Start! 🎾
Oakland, April 7, 2024 — The sun peeked over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the tennis courts at Brookdale Park in Oakland. It was a day of promise, of backhands and forehands, of community coming together for the love of the game.
Adults Serve Up Fun at 9:00 AM: The early birds arrived, their rackets in hand, ready to unleash their competitive spirit. The court buzzed with energy as seasoned players traded volleys, their sneakers scuffing against the clay. The sun played hide-and-seek through the leaves, but the passion for tennis burned bright. Aces were celebrated, and laughter echoed across the net.
Youth Rally at 10:00 AM: As the clock struck ten, the youth brigade took center stage. Their eyes wide with anticipation, they gripped their smaller rackets, eager to learn, to improve. Coaches guided them through drills, teaching them the art of footwork, the rhythm of a perfect swing. The future champions were born that morning, their dreams as high as the sun above.
Volunteers: The True Champions: Behind the scenes, unsung heroes donned their volunteer hats. They cleaned the courts, adjusted nets, and cheered on every player. Their dedication is the backbone of this program—the reason why We Lead Ours and The Oakland Tennis Council is able to continue serving the community. To them, we tip our visors and say, “Thank you!”

Easter Basket Hygiene Kit Drive Huge Success
Oakland, March 30, 2024 — The sun wasn’t the only thing shining on that glorious Saturday. We Lead Ours, along with our incredible volunteers, orchestrated an Easter Basket Hygiene Kit Drive that hit all the right notes.
60+ Kits, Countless Smiles: Our community rallied like never before. We assembled over 60 hygiene kits, each packed with essentials—soap, toothpaste, socks, and a sprinkle of kindness. As the unhoused community members received their kits, their eyes lit up. It was more than just toiletries; it was a gesture of compassion, a reminder that they matter.
High Fives and Hugs: Volunteers buzzed around like busy bees; their hearts full. They handed out kits with care, shared stories, and exchanged high fives. The air hummed with camaraderie, and the sun seemed to nod in approval. We were not just giving hygiene items; we were giving hope.
